Joining a committee is a great opportunity to enhance your skill set, grow as an individual, expand your network, and build friendships for life! As part of an ETC committee, you will be responsible for the management of one of our core activities, among a small team.

Your work will be challenging at times, but you will be rewarded with great personal connections and many opportunities to learn and develop.

Available committees

Business Development Committee

The Business Development committee is responsible for generating new business opportunities for our events (seminars, workshops, in-house days…). This includes researching the tech industry, identifying key players, reaching out to potential speakers/sponsors, closing deals and maintaining client relationships.

Who would be the Cinderella?

We are looking for students that enjoy social interaction, who like to think outside the box, and are curious about the tech industry. More over, we want;

  • Someone who is not afraid to reach out to people (professionals/student associations)
  • Someone who doesn’t give up easily
  • Someone who is curious about managing and securing deals 

We are looking to fill the following positions:

External Collaborations Manager (4x):

  • Utilize business and industry knowledge to research trendy tech topics and identify corresponding key companies/executives for the events;
  • Generate new business opportunities by proactively contacting potential new clients (speakers/sponsors/) via phone, email, and social networks;
  • Manage the sales process including prospecting, outreach, developing relationships, and closing the sale;
  • Manage relationships with clients on-site at events.

HR Committee

This committee is primarily responsible for keeping the spirit and energy of the entire association high by ensuring that everyone has a good time working in the association and organizing various team-building activities.

Who would be the Cinderella?

 Team members must be responsible, organized, confident, and willing to organize creative (!) events to bring people together. The Cinderella would be the person with excellent organizational skills who will complete all the necessary tasks on time. Team members must be responsible, organized, open-minded, creative, flexible and enjoy being around other people, willing to work on bringing people together.

As part of the education committee, you can apply for:

Internal Events Manager (2x):

As an internal Event Manager, you organize internal social events to bond active members (board and committee members), ranging from trips (at least twice a year) and other social events such as drinks at the bar, paintball, Secret Santa, etc. (once every 2 weeks)

Your expected tasks as an Internal Events Manager;

  1. Build an awesome community vibe
  2. Find and negotiate venues
  3. Organize needed supplies
  4. Schedule a suitable date for the internal event that best suits all members of the association

To be the best Internal Events Manager, you should have;

  1. Excellent organizational and time management skills
  2. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
  3. Excellent interpersonal skills (good communication)
  4. Excellent negotiation skills

HR Manager (1x):

As a HR manager, you make sure that all active members enjoy the work they are doing in the association and are motivated to contribute to the growth of ETC.

Your expected tasks as an HR Manager;

    1. Build an awesome community vibe
    2. Send and analyze monthly feedback surveys about the work in the association, the atmosphere, likes and dislikes, etc.
    3. Suggest solutions to problems revealed by the survey results (e.g. retention of active members, motivation, engagement, etc.) and facilitate implementation of approved solutions
    4. Facilitate internal communication and resolve conflicts within the association
    5. Help with administrative tasks
    6. Other minor HR related tasks

To be the best HR Manager, you should have;

  3. Ability to act with integrity and confidentiality

  5. Preferable (not mandatory!) to have previous experience in HR

Operations & Events Committee

The Operations & Event committee focuses on brainstorming interesting and new ideas for events. Following up, it is responsible for organizing external events to inspire and educate students upon the tech world and create a space in which to connect with successful big names and innovative start ups.

Who would be the Cinderella?

We are looking for people with interest in the tech industry and are not scared of a challenge. If you are hard working, with good time management and would like to work behind the scenes of big events. Our cinderella is a person that likes working in a team, with an open minded and honest personality that is not afraid of a challenge. Clear communication is essential for this role to efficiently organize an event. If you are looking for a fun and creative experience join the team and let’s create together something memorable for everyone.

Operations Manager (3x):

  • Responsible for searching and booking the required allocation for the events, the tools needed such as microphones and any required additional services such as catering for drinks.
  • Responsible for arranging the guest’s accommodation and transportation within Rotterdam and outside the country as well as looking after the guests during the event.

Marketing Committee

Let’s embrace creativity! Are you ready to think out of the box and boost our online and offline presence? Marketing requires a diverse set of skills and is an essential part of our success strategy. The committee is generally responsible for successfully reaching the right target segments for the delivery of ETC’s values using various tools, analytics, and creative tools while maintaining ETC’s positioning and images.

Who would be the Cinderella?

A proactive person who is passionate and dedicated to working in a team. Innovative, Creative, and open-minded to new things. As most of the jobs of this committee have strict deadlines, task/time management skills are highly appreciated.

 

We are looking to fill the following positions:

Digital Marketing Expert (1x): 

Do you want to improve your skills in managing digital marketing data? Do you have a sixth sense for what trends will arise and how to engage our audience? Are you able to collect data and generate insights from it? If you are ready to take our socials to the next level from both a qualitative and quantitative perspective, then this is the right position for you! 

To be the best Digital Marketing Expert, you should have;

  • Experience with social media, ads, and analytics
  • Experience with digital marketing
  • Experience with data analysis with analytical tools
  • Excellent problem-solving, logical thinking, and decision-making skills

Physical Marketing Expert (1x):

Do you aspire to work on magazines, brochures and billboards? Are you creative, bold and social? Can you work well with people and make memorable first impressions? Then, you better apply for this one! 

To be the best Physical Marketing Expert, you should have;

Graphic Content Creator (2x):

Frequently Asked Questions

Who can apply for a committee position?

Being an ETC member is not a requirement. All EUR students excited about tech are welcome to apply!

Do I need to know how to code or have any other tech-related capabilities to be accepted?

We do not ask for any particular skillset, and being a data engineer is absolutely not a requirement. Take what you have and apply it to your role within ETC! Any skills are good skills when you can explain how they can contribute to your role in ETC and building our community.

What does the recruitment entail?

Just the standard rounds you’re used to. First, fill out the Typeform and upload your CV – no motivation letters required. The selected candidates move on to the second round where we conduct video interviews.  All of the communication will be done via email and phone.

How much time in my week will a committee position take?

On average you should expect to spend around 8-12h/week doing your part. Do not worry about balancing your studies with ETC. As mentioned before; if you are looking to truly develop yourself, learn more about tech, and expand your network big time… this is the place to be! No side-hustles needed.
